“Golden Spatula – Dream into HibiscusDream Reverie” Chessboard Skin Remix & SFX Design

In this project, I created a complete set of bespoke sound effects for the Chinese-style “Dream into Hibiscus” chessboard skin in Golden Spatula (mobile Teamfight Tactics). All content was built strictly according to the official event-spec sheet, following a “what you see is what you hear” design principle.

 

Based on the six specified events, I broke down the visual descriptions and translated them into concrete audio implementations:

 

  ·UI_Chessboard_Mrfr_Intro – Designed separate layers for the Poro rowing a small boat into frame, the distant fishing Poro looking back, and a bird flying across the right side. Gentle water paddling and wooden boat creaks shape the movement, a spatialized Poro vocal accent highlights the head turn, and a short, clean wing-flap tops the scene, all within a poetic, Chinese garden at-night feeling.

 

  ·UI_Chessboard_Mrfr_Amb – Built a looping “midnight garden” ambience using insects, frogs, and distant birds. Their calls are spaced and level-balanced to keep the scene rich and alive without becoming distracting or fatiguing over long sessions on the board.

  ·UI_Chessboard_Mrfr_Goldmine – For the single interest orb pop-up, I layered a soft clay pot pop (avoiding harsh transients), a water-tinged fish-tail flick, and a very subtle magical shimmer underneath. In the preview version the sound image is panned left to precisely match the orb’s on-screen position.

 

  ·UI_Chessboard_Mrfr_Win – On round victory, the left Poro successfully hooks a fish and feeds it to the big bird. I combined fish-out-of-water and small splash elements with the bird’s pecking movement, then added an upbeat Poro vocal to deliver a cute, light victory feedback.

 

  ·UI_Chessboard_Mrfr_Loss – On defeat, the Poro reels in an empty line and starts crying. The sound starts with a clear rod-swing and air-whoosh, followed by a few bubbles to underline the “empty catch,” and ends with expressive, sobbing Poro vocals that track the character’s animation.

 

  ·UI_Chess_Character_Sword_Swipe – Designed two distinct disappearance SFX for two different swords: one features a sharp but controlled blade ring and metal scrape for a classic martial-arts feel, while the other uses freezing and shattering ice textures to convey a sword that vanishes after being fully frozen.

 

Throughout the project, I managed loudness and frequency distribution across the whole set to ensure the SFX sit cleanly with in-game BGM, preserving both impact and spatial detail. I also tuned duration, tails, and loop points to make each asset implementation-ready in the game engine. This project showcases my ability to execute precisely from a design spec, create visually driven, Chinese-style soundscapes, and build a coherent, technically robust SFX system for a single themed skin.
